ESSENTIAL OILS FOR MENTAL HEALTH + EMOTIONS

How can oils support my mental health?

One of the most fascinating things that I've studied along this journey is how

plants were our first medicine. They were put here for us as our food and as

our medicine. They are meant to work with our bodies to keep them healthy and

help with different ailments and issues that we may be having!

I want you to think of mental health issues as a symptom, because that's exactly

what they are. They're a symptom telling you that something is wrong. Whether

that something is a lack of healthy food, too much toxic chemical product usage,

or past trauma that was never released. 

​

Now, with that in mind, let's take a quick look at some things that oils do:

+ They eliminate toxins in our bodies.

+ They can be found in our blood stream in 20 seconds. 

+ They reach every cell in our body within 20 minutes. 

+ They regenerate our DNA, having the capability to release things, such as

trauma, that have been stored in our bodies for years. 

+ They go directly to our limbic system (emotional brain) when inhaled (aromatherapy!)

+ They increase oxygen in the body. 

+ They support healthy blood pressure levels, relax us, and clear

our minds making us feel calm, level, and grounded.

This is a subject that I'm personally very passionate about because mental/emotional health is why I started using oils! Now that you

can see the science of how oils can support your body to good mental

health, let's talk about what oils you can use!

Protocols

Emotions and trauma are really interesting in the fact that they actually can be stored in our bodies. Sometimes, feeling better can be as simple as a protocol that is intended to detox certain parts of our bodies, thus releasing those traumas and emotions that we are holding onto! This may be a shift of thought for you, but think of an emotion as a ball of energy. If this doesn't quite make sense to you, think of how intensely you feel the emotion of worry in your stomach when a situation arises where you're worried about something. The feeling is so intense, that it makes you nauseous, gives you a stomachache, and has you feeling sick, and that doesn't go away until the situation is resolved and you don't have to worry anymore.

Now think as a child, when you had a situation that upset you, and you were taught by your parents, or others, to "stop crying," or, "it's unacceptable to express anger. It's disrespectful!" or whatever other things you were told to tell you to stop feeling and expressing your emotions. This is how the storing of emotions starts. If you aren't feeling it, you aren't processing it, and thus it becomes a stored emotion in your body. The same goes for unprocessed and unhealed traumas. 

There's even a lot of research and information out there about how stored emotions and traumas can cause different health issues. There's a great book called Feelings Buried Alive, that teaches you about different symptoms and issues and what the emotional connection is. I highly recommend diving into this book if you have any chronic symptoms, ailments, issues, or even ongoing aches and pains!

I wanted to mention another book that is an incredible resource for releasing emotions and trauma with essential oils! It's called Releasing Emotional Patterns with Essential Oils! It tells you what essential oil releases each emotion, and where to apply it on your body. It also has an emotional clearing protocol that is extremely effective for releasing trauma and deep rooted emotions from experiences that you've had throughout your life. It's one of my favorite books in my library!

Below are some of my favorite protocols for if you're not feeling well emotionally and mentally. These protocols are designed to work in your body to release built up emotions, traumas, and/or toxins in those organs that could be causing your body to 'malfunction,' thus producing symptoms (yes, anger, anxiousness, excessive down feelings, and irritability can be your body telling you that something is wrong!)

Bath Salts

Baths are a great way to relax (which is good for your mental health!) while getting the benefits of essential oils! You can mix 2-3 drops of any of these oils with 1 cup of epsom salts and add it to your bath!
